The National Clinical Homecare Association (NCHA) is pleased to announce, in partnership with Skills for Health the launch of a public consultation on the clinical homecare sector’s first ever career and competence framework.

With over 600,000 people in the UK currently receiving clinical homecare, and an estimated 6.8 million potentially eligible, this framework is crucial for developing a robust and scalable clinical workforce. It aims to standardise career pathways and enhance clinical resilience of the homecare industry.  The framework specifically focuses on clinical roles within the homecare sector, covering a wide range of specialist treatment pathways for both acute and long-term conditions. By standardising these clinical roles, under the overarching framework we seek to set standards that reinforce clinical safety and ensure the right capabilities are available at the right time.  The roles are underpinned by the relevant National Occupational Standards which outline the knowledge and skills that individuals need to perform effectively and safely in those roles.

The Clinical Homecare Career and Capabilities Framework consultation is open to individuals and organisations in healthcare and homecare. Ultimately, the Framework will support the development of the specific knowledge, skills, and capabilities of those who provide care and support to individuals receiving treatment out of a hospital setting, offering consistency, and the ability to develop shared standards.

We invite all stakeholders to share their views and help refine this framework. Your input is invaluable in shaping the future of clinical homecare.

The consultation opens on 7th January and closes 12 noon on 14th February 2025. To participate and find further information, please visit: https://survey.alchemer.com/s3/8062412/National-Clinical-Homecare-Association-Clinical-Homecare-Career-and-Competence-Framework-Consultation-Survey
